Panchayat

The Panchayat is an assembly of elected public representatives responsible for administering the affairs of the Panchayat Raj Institutions. For a Grama Panchayat (Village Panchayat), it is the main committee that implements the decisions of the Grama Sabha (Village Assembly) and conducts the day-to-day administration.The main components of the Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. They chair the meetings and oversee the overall functioning of the Panchayat.Vice-President: Assumes the duties in the absence of the President.Ward Members: Public representatives elected from each ward of the Panchayat.Standing Committees: These are sub-committees formed to facilitate the Panchayat's decision-making process for specific areas like Finance, Development, Welfare, etc.
